Unex designs and manufactures gravity conveyor products to meet a wide range of unit handling applications from the manufacturing floor to the retail store. Gravity conveyor is used to transport product on a level push line or a pitched gravity flow line.

Unex gravity conveyor consists of two types, "wheel" or "roller". Wheel conveyor is constructed of a series of wheels mounted on a common axle supported in a channel frame. Roller conveyor is constructed of metal tubes with bearings in each end and mounted on an axle supported in a channel frame. Roller axles are spring loaded so they can be moved to one side for easy removal or replacement of the roller in the frame. The spring also holds the roller in place. Product is transported directly on either wheels or rollers.

Most loads with a firm, flat bottom surface may be handled on gravity conveyor, either on a level push line or a gravity pitched line. Push lines require manual assistance to move the product along, where the slope is adjusted on pitched lines, allowing the natural force of gravity to move the product along, so that little or no assistance is required.

Unex gravity conveyors are available in a wide variety of sizes and materials, including steel for permanent installations and aluminum when portability is a requirement. Multiple standard widths, and lengths available manufactured “to the inch” provide flexibility for almost any situation. Because of their low cost and ease of installation, gravity conveyors are much more economical than other types of conveyor

Gravity wheel conveyors are well suited for conveying light weight packages with smooth, flat, firm bottom surfaces. Advantages of wheel conveyor include the low inertia of the wheels which allows a lesser grade than a typical roller conveyor, as well as a lighter weight of the system.

Unex wheel conveyors are available in two types. Steel frame and wheel conveyor has higher capacity than aluminum and is used mainly for permanent applications. Aluminum frame and wheel conveyor is used when weight savings are desired as when used in portable lines for shipping and receiving areas.

Wheel conveyor curves are often used in systems because the differential action of the wheels allows the product to maintain orientation when traveling around the turn. However, some items will not carry on wheel conveyor. These include containers with ring banded bases, pails, drums with chimes and most bagged items. It is also not recommended for open bottom crates, cleated containers, or cartons with soft, damp or soggy bottoms.

Gravity roller conveyors use the same principles as wheel conveyor, but have some added advantages. They are available in light to medium duty construction and can therefore handle a wider variety of loads and be used in more robust applications.

Gravity roller conveyor offers good support for the bottom surfaces of the product to be transported; therefore items with irregular surfaces that cannot be handled on wheel conveyor may be conveyed on the full width rollers. Some examples include drums, pails, and some wire baskets. Objects will generally convey as long as the bottom surface does not conform to the roller.

Unex gravity roller conveyor is available in two standard sizes, 1 3/8” diameter roller (JRS series) and 1.9” diameter roller (MRS series)

1 3/8” diameter roller conveyor is available in steel or aluminum construction and is ideally suited to convey light weight products and where operations require portable or temporary conveyor lines such as warehousing or shipping areas. 1.9” diameter roller conveyor is available in all steel construction and is used to convey light to medium weight products in permanent installations.

All series of Unex gravity conveyor include standard straight sections, as well as 90 and 45 degree curves and spur sections.

A full line of accessories, including permanent “H” style and portable Tripod style supports, as well as end stops, fixed and adjustable guard rail and gate sections are available as well.
